Public Defender

Peter F. Schlemmer is an Upper Peninsula native and attended Northern Michigan University where he majored in Philosophy and Political Science. He was born and raised in Gladstone and is returning to the UP to serve as an Assistant Public Defender on the misdemeanor docket.

Peter comes to Marquette from Berrien County, Michigan where he worked as a Public Defender for nearly 3 years representing clients in both District and Circuit Court. He obtained his J.D. from University of Montana School of Law in 2016. During his final year of law school, he worked in the criminal defense clinic representing indigent clients on misdemeanor charges.
