Public Defender

Samantha G. Lamrock is a graduate of Kalamazoo College where she earned a bachelor’s degree in political science with a minor in anthropology and sociology, and obtained her Juris Doctorate degree from Wayne State University Law School.

Sam is a native of Oscoda, Michigan and the first in her family to graduate from college and law school. Her northern upbringing informs her empathetic, holistic approach to lawyering.

At Wayne Law, Sam served as President of the Student Bar Association, the Women’s Law Caucus, and Wayne OUTLaw, as well as Symposium Editor of the Wayne Law Review. She spoke at her graduation ceremony where she received the Warrior Pro Bono Award for public service based on her internship at the Marquette County Office of the Public Defender.

Sam tried her hand in corporate counseling, estate planning, and civil appeals, but nothing compared to the fulfillment she found defending the public in Marquette, so she found her way back.

In addition to managing a misdemeanor docket, Sam serves as a team member and advocate for Marquette County’s Sobriety Court participants. Sam is licensed to practice law in the State of Michigan. She is a member of the Marquette County Bar Association, the State Bar of Michigan, the Women Lawyers Association of Michigan, and the National LGBTQ+ Bar Association.
